The junction by the main road into town. You can't really make it out -- but that's a river leading into town, and the gate to a Daoist temple on the right.

A village by the junction -- note the "truck" -- the Chinese equivalent of the cheapo pick up truck, with a tractor engine mounted on the outside, and the whole thing operated by belts.
